The other face shot had a lot of noise because of the deep shadow the heron was in - here, despite his hiding under overhanging tree branches, I had a bit more light to work with
I'm out of here - the Heron also did not like when someone was walking his dog long the lake - Canon DSLR.
Prior to taking this shot, I had managed to get nice and close to this heron as he was hanging out in the open at the water's edge - just as I was getting ready to take some shots some (insert adjective of choice here) came up and loudly proclaimed "wow, they usually don't let you get that close!" Needless to say, had to begin my stalking all over again as the heron became skitterish and remained under cover. Oh, and shot taken on Fletcher Lake, Ocean Grove, New Jersey this afternoon
Talk about concentration - this redwing blackbird harassed this heron for about five minutes ( including walking on his back) and the heron ignored it like it wasn't even there - Canon DSLR shot, iOS edit (square crop and tiltshift) - Ocean Grove, New Jersey
in flight picture was through a window and happened in less then 3 seconds.. Ninja reflexes
I was starting to get worried that I haven't seen any of the blue herons around the past couple of weeks; I'm happy now because at least one was hanging out on Deal Lake in Allenhurst, New Jersey this morning - unedited (except for square crop and frame) iPhone image of a beautiful spring morning at the Jersey Shore.
