Josh's POV: ___ Its been a year. Today. It has been 12 months, since the death... I cant even think it. June 7th. Its just a day. A text pops up on my phone. Connor: Josh? Me: What? Connor: you need me to stay with you? Me: no. Go with lexi. Connor: your my brother. If I need to stay, I'll stay. Just tell me. Me: im fine. Just leave me alone. Connor: Im down at the beach if you want to join. I'll try keeping my phone. Later. Me: Bye. ___ I cant stand being around Lexi... All we do is exchange awkward stares and each others presence is just a reminder of her. Of Brynn. I decide to roll out of bed. Im wearing only shorts, and my silver wedding band on my finger. Iv'e never taken it off... Never. The engravings catch my eye once and a while, the word "Promises" is why I cant get myself to move on. Brynn will always be a part of me... Always. Love is a promise, and im not breaking this one. Every day has been slow. Iv'e worked on a movie, a drama. There's alot of crying... Which is easy. All I do is picture her eyes. Imagine the touch of her lips, the smell of her hair... Anything. Sometimes my hand goes numb at the thought of holding hers as she died... Cold shivers wave through me.
fangirl_society I pull up to a small performance hall, there's a rehearsal room and a stage with an auditorium. About 20 people are gathered outside the hall, so I wander inside. I make sure no one saw me. When I found my way to the stage, I find a single Piano. What the hell, im going to play. There's a book on the stand, a familiar song. Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi... The song Brynn liked. I set my hamds on the keys, an out comes the first chord. I cant stop here... The notes flow, and my fingers trace back and forth along the keys, like a puzzle. The deeper I get into the song, the warmer I feel. Like she's with me. I can see her dancing in my mind. Beautiful. Graceful. Perfect. The tears well up in my eyes when I finnish the song. I slam a hand down on the top of the piano. "Im sorry" i cry to myself. I hold my fave in my hands and letthe tears flow. A clap comes from behind me. I turn to see a girl behind the curtain. "Are you... Josh?" "Yeah. Sorry... I shouldnt be in here..." "No no... Its okay... That was..." "Bad?" "Beautiful. You were thinking of her werent you?" "How do you... What... Who are you?" "Im Brynn's friend Melody... She told me about you, you two... She told me this was your song. No lyrics could describe her love..." "She... She said that?" "Yes. She did." I wipe a tear from my cheek. "How do you know Brynn?" "She was my dance mentor... She's know me since I was 7, but she just started mentoring me when I was 13." "How old are you now?" "18." "Wow... She's ... She would be 22 now. You two were close?" "Yeah. I miss her... I cant imagine how you feel. " "You cant." "Well, she told me that, the first time she heard you play that song while she danced, she felt weightless. Like her reasons for starving vanished... Her pills were gone, and the weight was lifted. You set her free Josh, you inspired her" "She inspired me." I sniffle. "Look, After this 'music class' thing is over, call me. We can talk more. We gotta sneak out back now, we are late." She hands me her number. Im not sure to think if she's flirting or being friendly, so I just take it. And when I leave, i call her.
