While out doing errands, I saw our skies were filled with haze and smoke residue, especially to the north. Wildfires were raging around NorCal and it appears that the King Fire was the biggest one… The fire was roughly between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. Pics taken from around San Jose, CA while along Tully Rd. The latest info of the King Fire as of September 19, 2014: Acres burned around 76,000 and was only 10% contained. That being said, the King fire was now covering more than 119 square miles, an area nearly as large as the entire city of Portland. Structures threatened included 12,000 single residences and 9,000 other minor structures. This massive King Fire, located east of Placerville, had exploded into one of this year’s biggest wildfires in California and has claimed its first casualties at several homes and structures near the town of Pollock Pines… (Friday around sunset, September 19, 2014)

As the King Fire in El Dorado County continues to grow, we are keeping the firefighters, emergency responders, and affected communities in our thoughts and prayers. We sincerely hope this devastating fire is contained as soon as possible. #KingFire

This weekend we officially say good bye to Summer 2014 and hello to Fall. I had a great Summer but I'm ready for all the perks of Fall... Like cooler weather? #crossingfingers #fallequinox September 18, 2014 #bessieykayphotoaday #loveeverymomentofthislife

@user @user Wow. You have gone through this heat wave pregnant? You're a champ and congrats for a new baby! 😊 Yay! I'll cross all my fingers and hold my breath for cooler weather for you!

@user @user Thanks! And yeah, I still have to make it to December. I'm nervous about it being one of those years where it's still 75° at thanksgiving!!!

A cloudy, late summer day in the city. A weakening low pressure system had brought California only trace amounts of much-needed precipitation during the early morning hours. This system apparently didn’t do much to relieve our drought here. Pics taken from around San Jose, CA. Parts of the Bay Area got their first real precipitation in months, aside from the typical morning low clouds and mist\fog. Too bad our area didn’t get much in terms of rainfall. Only plentiful clouds. It’s frustrating as well since this low pressure system had looked impressive while it was still out in the Pacific. It somehow weakened as it approached our state. Oh well, the wet season isn’t officially here as of yet. (Thursday, September 18, 2014)
